SEA LIFE COEX, Seoul Aquarium Unveils Renewal with Exciting New Exhibits and Experiences

SEA LIFE COEX, Seoul Aquarium has officially reopened following a successful rebranding, unveiling brand-new themed exhibition zones ‘Seal Beach Cove’ and ‘Secret Garden of Seahorses’, along with the introduction of the first-ever Glass Bottom Boat experience in Seoul. 

One of the most notable changes from the rebranding is ‘Seal Beach Cove,’ where the seals’ living environment has been greatly improved. Reflecting the ecological trait of seals, which spend most of their time on land in the wild, the exhibit’s land space has been expanded to more than five times its previous size. 

During the renovation, four resident seals—Daeyang (1.49m, 87kg), Haeyang (1.54m, 89kg), Oweol (1.25m, 55kg), and Yuwol (1.27m, 53kg)—temporarily stayed at SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium. They have now fully adapted to their spacious new home in Seoul.  

The newly introduced Secret Garden of Seahorses showcases more than 160 seahorses across various species in a habitat designed with live marine plants such as eelgrass and seaweed.  

Visitors can encounter the Big-Belly Seahorse, the Lined Seahorse with its crown-like protrusions, the color-changing White Seahorse, and the well-camouflaged Barbour’s Seahorse. Highlighting the exhibit is the endangered Weedy Sea Dragon, with its striking leaf-like fins that captivate audiences. 

As the highlight of the renewal, SEA LIFE COEX Aquarium proudly presents the Glass Bottom Boat, a first-of-its-kind experience in Seoul. Guests can ride a transparent-bottom boat across a massive tank, observing sharks, rays, and other marine creatures swimming directly beneath their feet. Visitors can also enjoy a unique feeding experience, adding even more excitement to their journey. 

In addition, SEA LIFE COEX Aquarium enriches the visitor experience with diverse attractions, including Sea at Night, a themed zone blending media art with marine life, offering an unforgettable and immersive adventure.
